Corrections
When we get something wrong, we say so under the text, with the date and what changed.
How we correct
Every report is checked against the source document. If the text is wrong, we correct it and add a dated note under it that says what was wrong and what is right now. The article shows the date of the correction next to its original publication date, which stays. The correction note stays under the text for good.
A correction is announced to search engines like a new text, so the corrected version replaces the old one in search results as soon as possible.
Updates are not corrections
When a company files new documents or something important happens to it, we update the article and add a dated note of what is new. That is an update, not a correction: the earlier text was right with what was public at the time.
Withdrawn texts
When a text cannot be put right, for example because the source data turn out to be wrong, we withdraw it. Its address then shows a dated note saying that and why the text was withdrawn, and search engines are told that it is gone.
Report an error
Under every article and short there is a “Found an error? Report it” link. The report goes straight to the newsroom; your e-mail address is optional.
